Benefits for Homeowners & Agricultural Producers

Dust control can dramatically improve outdoor living conditions for homeowners, reducing airborne dust and making yards safer and cleaner. It also helps minimize dust buildup on vehicles, equipment, and buildings, lowering maintenance costs and preventing windshield damage from loose gravel.

Benefits for Local Governments

City, county, and state agencies can benefit from incorporating dust suppressants into their road maintenance strategies. Treated roads experience:
  • Less gravel displacement and loss
  • Reduced need for blading and watering
  • Fewer potholes and washboarding
  • Improved visibility, air quality, and safety
By maintaining the integrity of gravel surfaces, dust control treatments also lower the frequency of road grading and gravel replenishment, resulting in long-term cost savings.

We Use an Industry-Leading Dust Control Solution

Road Saver is a magnesium chloride-based liquid suppressant that binds fine particles to the road, reducing dust and improving road stability. Classified as one of the least harmful dust control options for vegetation and groundwater, Road Saver also provides erosion control benefits.

Application Tips

  • Road should have a good crown in the driving surface.
  • Road should have good shoulder drainage – standing water anywhere in the roadway will cause the surface to soften and fail.
  • Loosen a minimum of one to two inches of the existing surface and leave it loose at a uniform depth across the roadway. This allows the liquid dust control to penetrate evenly and quickly into the gravel.
  • Gravel itself must have a good gradation.
  • Gravel should have a good percentage of fine material with some plasticity, giving it a natural binding characteristic.
  • If good gravel is not present on the road, fresh gravel should be hauled in prior to a road dust control treatment.
  • Consult with your Dust Control Professional to determine if surface compaction is to be done prior to application of dust suppressant or after.
